The Best Hotels in San Miguel de Allende for Under $200 a Night

San Miguel de Allende is a popular destination in Mexico for both tourists and locals, renowned for its stunning architecture and festive atmosphere. The cobblestoned streets and colorful haciendas create an enchanting, almost timeless ambiance. The city’s romantic rooftop restaurants enhance its allure, providing the perfect setting for special occasions. This magical atmosphere is a key part of what makes San Miguel de Allende so special, and expensive.

Visiting San Miguel is possible without breaking the bank. Accommodations are one of the largest expenses for a vacation. We put together this list of the best hotels in San Miguel de Allende that still offer a taste of luxury for under $200 per night.

Our Criteria for A Great Hotel

We searched through the hotels on Booking.com and Expedia.com and walked around the city several times to find the best hotels in San Miguel for you. We chose this list based on the following:

  • location
  • bed size
  • room size
  • reviews
  • air conditioning (this is important between April and September).

Because of the narrow streets and very limited parking spaces, we did not choose parking as a prerequisite, though we do mention if parking is available.

All the hotels listed below are within 1 kilometer (less than a mile) of the Parroquia, the big pink church in the middle of San Miguel de Allende. From the Parroquia, you can walk to other churches, the Mercado, the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez El Nigromante art school, and Parque Benito Juarez. We chose hotels 1 km or less from the historical center because most people are not used to walking cobblestoned hills at 6000 ft. elevation.

Note: If you are a light sleeper and want a soundproof hotel, you will need to venture further out than one kilometer.
